WebGraphicsRus was never a one-service operation. The work that came through the door was varied because small businesses have varied problems and the same person who built your website was often the same person who showed up when the network went down.
This page is a summary of the services provided during the active years of WebGraphicsRus across the Philadelphia and tri-state area.
Networking, Installation, and Technical Support
Small and mid-sized businesses in Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and surrounding counties needed network support they could actually reach. Not a help desk ticket that took three days to get a response. Someone who showed up, understood the setup, and fixed the problem.
Network installation, repair, and maintenance was a core part of the work. Wired and wireless setups, routers, switches, small server environments, and the day-to-day troubleshooting that keeps a business running. The clients ranged from single-office operations to multi-location businesses that had outgrown whatever they started with.
Computer Repair and Residential Support
Residential and commercial computer repair covered the full range of what goes wrong with a machine over time. Hardware upgrades, operating system installs, virus and malware removal, data backup planning, and disaster recovery when things went badly wrong. PC and Mac both.
One-on-one tutoring was part of the service for clients who needed to understand what they had, not just have it fixed for them. A client who understood their own system was easier to support and less likely to end up in the same situation again.
The Recovering Files from Old Hardware post on this site is a direct example of what this kind of work looks like years later the value of taking care of machines and the files on them before it is too late.
Software Consulting
Software was a source of real confusion for a lot of small business clients. Too many options, aggressive sales pitches, and a tendency to buy something that solved the wrong problem or required more than the hardware could handle.
The consulting work here was about matching the right tool to the actual need before money changed hands. Basic antivirus, productivity software, design applications, custom web-based tools all of it evaluated against what the client was really trying to accomplish. Software acquired through WebGraphicsRus was configured and supported directly rather than handed over with a manual.
The Software and Productivity page covers the tools and recommendations from that era in more detail.
Website Design and Hosting
Dozens of websites built for businesses across a wide range of industries. From basic informational sites to database-driven applications with custom forms, login systems, and content management tools built before WordPress existed.
Development used the standards of the time HTML, CSS, and Active Server Pages on Windows hosting. Sites were built to work, load reasonably fast on the connections people actually had, and represent the business professionally to anyone who landed on them.
Hosting coordination, email configuration, and ongoing support were part of the package. A site that launched and then got ignored was not a successful outcome.
The Website Services page goes deeper on the specific work including Flash development and the custom web applications built for dealer clients.
Automotive Internet Marketing
The automotive work was where WebGraphicsRus started and where the most specialized tools were built. Dealer login systems, inventory presentation templates, credit application processing, the Dynamic Description Creator, and eBay auction support for dealers and private sellers moving vehicles online.
The full story of how that work began is on the dealer page. The Archive Notes posts document the specific tools and technology in detail.
What Came Next
WebGraphicsRus launched in October 2001 on Windows hosting running Active Server Pages. It was the right stack for that moment and it served the dealer work well. By late 2002 the direction was expanding beyond automotive and beyond the Microsoft ecosystem.
In November 2002 eMaxAds.com launched as the next step. A shorter name, a broader scope, and a deliberate move to a LAMP stack Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP which was where the independent web was heading. All future projects from that point forward ran on LAMP.
WebGraphicsRus did not close so much as evolve into what came next. The client relationships, the accumulated experience, and the hands-on approach carried forward. eMaxAds built on the foundation that WebGraphicsRus laid.
The story continues at eMaxAds.com.
